Does your future plan include support for MGRS? I meen viewing positions in MGRS coordinates, displaying MGRS grid, etc.

Thanks for suggesting, a usable grid is absolutely necessary!

MGRS is great but a little bit heavy for airsoft sites (needs 10 chars to address a 100x100m square, or at least 6 numbers if only the number part is showed).

We haven't selected the grid system yet, I prefer the very simple grids with letters on the rows and numbers on the columns because they are very easy to use. Maybe we can do something which is based on the MGRS but is easy to use.

What do you think about that?

Almost every MILSIM event requires knowledge of MGRS. Some times all you get are MGRS coordinates of point. I think supporting MGRS is necessary. But knowing MGRS is also disadvantage, because if your communication is being listened, everyone is knowing your location and where you gonna move. I suggest to you, that you built in your own grid and some kind of converter from your coordinates to MGRS coordinates.
In fact I suggest, if it possible, that letters and numbers of displayed grid are coded with password or something like that. And then everyone who wont type that password, wont see right coordinates. I don't know if that is possible, but if it is, this would be a greet advantage of Battletac.

Thank you for your thoughts, we will implement mgrs and maybe some scrambled grid too!

Great.
One more question. I have a very large map (140 Memoticon is it possible for me to convert it to battletac friendly form without uploading it to your server?

This is theoretically possible but not very easy. Our conversion script is too user-unfriendly and undocumented for distribution, but the BattleTac client is able to use the output of MSR MapCruncher directly. You have to create a cache.conf text file in the resulting Layer_newLayer directory and describe the type of the map, something like this:

version=3
format=mapcruncher

This method is not tested and unsupported yet, but feel free to ask. and please report your experience!

I have attached the documentation of the mapping library we use, you can find more info about using MapCruncher output as a stored map.
