Welcome here and have a nice time with BattleTac!

Please provide feedback both about the technical difficulties and ease of use!

Thanks,

I am a part of the
MilSim Airsoft group and we have received 2 Battle Tac Commanders and I am the beta tester.

I just got started and have many questions.
1. Do I need to change the user name from what it is as unit5?

2. I have had to contact AT T for tech help on the SIM card and it keeps saying that it is unregistered but we had it working for a short time last night.
Is there something I am missing here?

3.Does the Commander require a bluetooth GPS phone?

Comments:
I only have the 12 volt car charger is there another plug other than European for United States?
It did not come with a manual, could one be included or is it cost prohibitive in the future?

You are the first in the US who tries a Commander so the first setup can be tricky. Thank you for your help!

cia-geo:

Yes, please change it to your user name or register another user because these are test users and if more devices use the same user then it may not work correctly.

This error means that the GSM subsystem of the Commander encountered some problem. My first idea is that maybe there is a PIN lock active on the sim card. The Commander is unable to handle the PIN so you have to insert the sim into a phone and check if it is working without entering a PIN. if it asks for a PIN then you can disable this somewhere in the menu of the phone. I hope this helps. (If not then please charge the unit fully, be sure that AT&T has good signal, turn off and on the Commander several times, try the another Commander and try a sim card from another carrier if possible)

3.Does the Commander require a bluetooth GPS phone?

No, the bluetooth is just an extra: The Commander can work as a car navigation and a bluetooth hands-free device. You don't need this but you can try it in your car.

What you got is a modified european package but we forgot to include an adapter for the wall charger. You have to buy something like that if you want to use the wall charger. Sorry for that.

We also included the pouches but they are prototypes thus there is no space for them in the original package. That's why the package you got is a little bit strange.

We don't print the manual for environmental reasons but usually there is a small card in the package with the url of the documentation: http://d.battletac.com/static/commander/manual/userguide.html. Sorry again.

Thank you.

On Navigation it states no software found.
What do you recommend?

I also have to go to the AT&T Store as we have some issues yet but will keep you informed.
I will also send an email through the contact Claymore(Kelly).

We don't yet offer navigation software for the US. (Only for Europe) However, you can use Commander as bluetooth hands-free, it works without navi software.

If you want to use it as car navigator, you have to buy a navi software on an SD card. We use the polnav car navigator, but every software with Windows CE 5.0 support should work. (Like iGo, which is a hungarian brand. US version on eBay, I think not legal copy. )

Update about the charger: I forgot to write that it accepts power from mini USB so you can use any mini usb charger or any USB host with a mini usb cable.

I sometimes charge the Commander using the wall charger of my iPhone and a normal mini USB cable.

First off got the Commander up and going with the help of tech at AT&T.

2. The default message when you loose a tower or signal is SIM card not registered.
Wait until you move a ways or get good reception again and reconnect.

I changed my name due to a character missing on the keyboard - is not present.
I am now ciageo.

Does your screen name and password need to match the one I have here?

On the GPS settings I see that it is getting good signals but on the BT screen is says No GPS signal.
Also get the BADPWD Bad screen name or password.

You said that any Windows CE 5 support would work.
Will GPS Trackmaker work with it?

I know I am missing a few things but we will probably get to them sooner or later.

Hey everyone,

My name is Jamie, I'm from Wisconsin in the U.S.
I'm running the Beta on my Samsung Acclaim (Droid) using Layar under the username Superdestructive-Sheep.
Still messing around with the software and feeling it out.

I'd like to try using it at an big game next weekend.
We'll see if I can figure out the maps by then!

I suggest you doing a lot of training with BattleTac before the game: it is not trivial to use so you need to have experience to use it successfully in the wild.

I wish you good luck!
