installing desktop version for Java
toggle
Hi,
I have looked at all the support documents and read the installation files, but I can't get the program to install on my computer.
When I extract the files it gives me the sub folders but I can't find a install file or one that runs in java. What I'm I doing wrong?

Hi,

Thank you for reporting, we have found a problem on OSX 10.6:

The unzipped package can run without installation so the install process is just moving the battletac-desktop/ folder to an appropriate location.

On Windows it should be enough to run the battletac.bat. On OSX you have to start the battletac.sh, but simple doubleclick on that file isn't working on some systems so you may have to open the Terminal from Applications/Utilities, go to battletac-desktop/ folder and start it. E.g.:

cd /Users/YOUR-USERNAME/Downloads/battletac-desktop
./battletac.sh

Sorry for the inconvenience, we will fix the problem in the next version!

Ok, I tried the suggestions but it still is not working. What Java platform does it use? I got SE Binary version.

Hi,

please answer these questions:

- Are you using OSX? What version?
- What happened when you started the battletac.sh from the terminal?

Thank you!

Hmm, I don't have OSX installed or atleast I can't find anything that is OSX stand alone. I did a search online but not sure just what I'm suppose to be looking for to download.

Hi,

sorry, according to your last words I suppose you are on Windows, not on OSX. So the bug we found doesn't affect you. You have to start the battletac.bat file.

If nothing happens after you started the battletac.bat, then please

1. Check if Java is installed
2. unzip the file I have attached here and Copy the battletac-debug.bat file into the directory where battletac.bat is and start it. Create a screenshot and upload it with your next post using the 'attach files' button.

Thank you,
Krisztián
